Winter 2005/2006 was distinguished by little
rainfall, but heavy snowfalls at the end of January, with very low minimum
temperatures until February and March: the classic Piedmontese winter that
hadn’t been seen here for some time. From April on temperatures returned
gradually to the norm, while the rainfall was below average in a month
which is normally the wettest in the Langa. Rain continued to be scarce in
May, June and July too. At the beginning of June, the first wave of heat
arrived from Africa, with maximums of over 30°C being persistently
recorded, and peaks of over 35°C., interrupted by some storms towards the
end of June. July also featured very high temperatures and little
rainfall.
